SIP, the Session Initiation Protocol, is a signaling protocol for Internet conferencing, telephony, presence, events notification and instant messaging. It is used to create, manage and terminate sessions in an IP based network. SIP has been the choice for services related to Voice over IP (VoIP) in the recent past. The software supports different Network Address Book (NAB) lookup of presence servers – XCAP, LDAP, XMPP.
